"The two day workshop was extremely well organized. It was obvious that Kar-Keat Chong had carefully considered every fundamental art principle that workshop participants would need to understand prior to practicing ink and watercolor paintings. His patience and devotion to sharing his artistic journey with others at all levels is rare and inspiring
Kar-Keat Chong provided fascinating anecdotal tales of his own development as well as a carefully crafted digital presentation.
Kar-Keat Chong shared useful insights on drawing shapes, value studies, color theory, recommended materials and supplies, examples of paintings that clearly illustrated concepts of balance and contrast, and countless practical tips including useful reference materials.
This information prepared us for each of the hands-on practical application sessions that occurred throughout the workshop that reinforced the concepts he had just discussed.
Kar-Keat was also a helpful and kind guide when we temporarily "lost our way" trying to apply what we just learned.
Thank goodness the workshop was so well organized and clear, you can imagine the information needed to teach those of us brand new to ink and watercolor as well as providing new insights to those more experienced. Quite a feat! But he pulled it off with flying colors!
I've been to a number of watercolor workshops previously. This is the first workshop where I know I will be working and applying what Kar-Keat taught in two days for many years to come. This workshop was a very very wise investment for my future art journey."

“Since participating in two of Kar-Keat’s workshops this year, other sketchers have seen growth in my understanding of bold lines and greater use of value. Kar-Keat so clearly teaches the elements of art that I can now be more aware and thoughtful in my use of those elements. The practical application of his teachings helped make my sketches “pop” and be more visually engaging.”

"We heartily recommend Professor Kar-Keat Chong’s watercolor instruction workshops. We were neophytes, rapidly gained basic skills and were proud to achieve significant results from our participation. Whether you are neophytes like us, or are accomplished watercolor artists, we think you will enjoy and benefit from attending.
Professor Chong has a unique talent and background from his membership in Malaysian cultural watercolor excellence blended with his plein air and academic architectural studies."
